Rainer A. Leitgeb has been associate professor of Medical Physics and since 2014 head of the Christian Doppler Laboratory of Innovative Optical Imaging and its Translation to Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. He was invited as visiting professor at EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland and at CNRS FEMTO-ST Besancon, France. He is Fellow of SPIE and OSA, has authored more than 200 publications including book chapters and patents, is recipient of the ARVO/ALCON Early Career Clinical Scientist Research Award and was recognized by Carl Zeiss for his pioneering contributions to spectral domain OCT. His research is focusing on functional, multimodal biomedical optical imaging and advanced image processing aiming at their clinical translation
